AVAILABLE NOW – The next generation of everyone’s favorite automated testing tool – Quick Test Professional Version 10.0 from HP. QTP is a comprehensive technology solution that provides functional and regression test automation for major software applications and environments. This testing tool captures, verifies, and replays user interactions automatically and helps testers quickly identify and report on application effects, while providing advanced functionality for tester collaboration.

What makes this new version of Quick Test Professional so revolutionary? Plenty, including new features such as:

• System monitoring while running tests – enables you to monitor the local (client-side) computer resources used by the application instance you are testing during a run session to view the effects your application has on the system.
• Improve portability by saving copies of tests together with their resource files – Now save a standalone copy of your test and its resource files to a local drive or to another storage device using File > Save Test with Resources command.
• Centrally manage and share test assets, versions and dependencies in Quality Center 10.00 – a new resources and dependencies model for storing and managing shared assets, support for asset versioning and baselines, and an asset comparison tool/asset viewer.
• Call actions dynamically during the test run – take advantage of the new LoadAndRunAction statement to load an action only when the step runs, and then run that action.
• Develop your own custom comparers for bitmap checkpoints – this custom comparer is a COM object that performs the bitmap comparison for the checkpoint according to your testing requirements, allowing a bitmap checkpoint to pass even if the image in the application shifts by an amount specified when the checkpoint is defined.
• Centrally manage work items and ToDo tasks in ToDo pane – Enables the creation and management of self-defined tasks, and review a compiled set of the TODO comments from your tests, components, and associated function libraries. For example, use the Tasks tab to provide instructions to another team member during a handoff or to create reminders for yourself. Let QTP do the remembering for you!

QTP 10.0 also makes available a new and improved test results analysis and reporting functionality.  Enhance your ability to review run results more thoroughly and efficiently using features such as:

1) Jump To Step, which brings the QuickTest main window directly into focus, allowing the cursor to jump right to the relevant step, and providing more information about a particular node in the Test Results window.

2) Export Test Results to Microsoft Word or PDF Formats, which in addition to HTML format, allows you to share information (together with any local system monitoring data) with your developers and performance testing teams.

3) Add Images to Test Results, using the Reporter.ReportEvent method, which enables adding of an image to run results.

4) View Bitmaps Differences in Bitmap Checkpoints, allows the selection to view the differences between the two bitmaps.

5) Include images in exported and printed test results, when selecting the detailed option. The document now includes all images (including screen captures of steps, expected, actual, and difference bitmaps for bitmap checkpoints, and any images sent to the run results).

QTP 10 now offers support for next-generation development technologies such as:  Windows® Presentation Foundation, Web Services, Macromedia Flex, Ajax, Delphi, PowerBuilder, .NET, J2EE, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications.
